It's a Snow Day!

March has arrived, and though it appeared to be coming in like a lamb, today it is roaring like a lion. That's right, we are in the middle of a winter storm. The boys are all home today, as school has been cancelled. We are snowed in, so it's just as well. I don't know how much snow has fallen so far, but it's pretty deep and still falling. Combined with the strong winds, this heavy snowfall has made for some very poor driving conditions. My evening Bible Study has been cancelled too.

Winter storms can be an adventure of sorts, and sometimes it's fun being stuck in the house, watching the snow swirling all around outside. There are some circumstances that make it less fun. For instance, a power failure. Those can be fun for the first few minutes, but when minutes turn into hours and the house starts to get chilly, the situation loses some of its humour and becomes more stressful. We are not facing a power failure today, thankfully. But we do have another dilemma. We are out of water. I'm talking about drinking water here, so we still have running water. Not so bad, right? But we have nothing else to drink. Oops. That was a bit of a lack of foresight on our part. Mike ploughed the driveway a while back, but he said we would never get out without them clearing our road first. So we are stuck, with nothing to drink. It's not too serious, really, because I am boiling water so we can have safe water, but it's a bit of a long process and it's annoying. Other than that one little detail, we are safe here in our house. Laundry is going, dishwasher has run, carpet is vacuumed and supper is prepared, but not yet cooked.

And now, as I return to this post after a million interruptions, Mike has ventured out to pick up some kind of drill or something he needs to work on the basement, and he is going to town to get water too. Phew. I think he's a little crazy, personally, but I will be very thankful to get some water. Me? I will be enjoying the warmth of the house!
